Sunday, June  20: Pentecost IV

Creator, we come to you full of worries and opinions. We are buffeted by world events and by events in our own lives and those of our family and friends. And so we open our hearts and minds to you today. God, be our strength. Jesus, be our model. Holy Spirit, breathe fresh energy into our spirits.
We pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Notes:

Greetings From The Chair

I hope everyone has been enjoying the warm sunny weather, too bad we have been in a “stay at home” mode for longer than I can remember. We are finally seeing signs of the covid crisis coming under control with the increase in vaccinations and second doses. I am sure we will see restrictions loosen as we move into reopening of Ontario. I am sure many of you are missing our times together at Essex United. Hang in there, things will start to open up soon.

Unfortunately, we are saddened and hurt by the senseless incident in London this past week that effectively wiped out a family of the Muslim Faith. As a Christian family this type of action is foreign to our beliefs and teachings. Our thoughts and prayers go out to our Brothers and Sisters of the Muslim faith in this time of sorrow, disbelief and fear. I trust we as Canadians can make a better effort to be a truly Multicultural Nation. Let’s pray we can come together with our belief in God to guide our thoughts and actions in the future.

Keep your thoughts positive and enjoy the summer and hope to see you all soon.

June 27 Miracle One Day Food Drive

Based on the success of last year’s event, the organizers are planning another event for this year – also on June 27th. The response last year was incredible. The one day food drive generated an estimated 2 million pounds in donations. You can help by putting non-perishable food items on the doorstep of your residence by 12 noon on June 27th. Anyone who would like to donate or volunteer is asked to visit: www.june27miracle.ca or email essexcountymiracle@gmail.com

Thank you for your continuing support of Essex United. We rely on the contributions to cover ministry costs, and our bills. At this time, we are still facing a prolonged closure, and this makes it more important, if you are able, to give faithfully and regularly to the church.

Our Library is in need of Children’s books. If you have any to donate, they can be dropped off at the church. Please call the church office (519-776-5121) to make sure Susan is in.
